Roma Genocide Remembrance Day
A haunting portrait of Anna Maria Steinbach is August’s Portrait of the Month. We chose it because August 2nd is Roma Genocide Remembrance Day. On that day in 1944, nearly 3,000 Roma and Sinti people, mostly women, children and the elderly were sent to the gas chamber at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Anna Maria was probably one of them. She was nine years old.
June in Dallas
June in Dallas is hot. We were told it gets even hotter. But heat and storms didn’t stop us from having a fulfilling and productive time at the 2023 AHO Summer Conference at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum.
‘Never Again — Again’ World Premier
In March 2023, we opened two exhibits at The Holocaust Resource & Education Center of Florida, including Finding Kalman and the world premier of Never Again — Again, which features testimony from six survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda alongside painted portraits of the survivors.
Messages from Survivors in Florida
In January 2023, Memory Project Productions co-founders Roz Jacobs and Laurie Weisman launched the Messages From Survivors exhibit at the Association of Holocaust Organizations (AHO) Winter Conference in Miami, Florida.
